The Tirana Prosecution has filed a claim for the minor Mario Përlleshaj, who is accused of the murder of Martin Cani, requesting a sentence of 25 years in prison for the criminal offense of murder in qualifying circumstances against two or more persons.
But prosecutor Alma Felaj said she leaves the final sentence to the court's assessment, reminding them of the juvenile criminal code, namely Article 97.
This article stipulates that the sentence under these conditions does not exceed 12 years, which means that if the court takes these circumstances into account, the perpetrator of the murder of Martin Can and the injury of Luis Meçja may be sentenced to less than half of the initial sentence, i.e. 12 years.
The next session will feature the defense's conclusions, as well as the position of the injured parties. We recall that as a result of the fight between the minors, the suspected perpetrator himself was injured.
Since November 2024, 14-year-old Mario Përlleshaj has been held in the juvenile institution in Kavaja. The serious incident occurred near the "Fan Noli" school on November 18 of last year.
Just a few days before the crime, the teenagers had confronted each other, and the school claimed that it had confronted the minors and then reconciled, but in fact, the conflict continued a few days later as soon as the children left the school premises, where the serious incident was recorded a few meters away.
