Double murder in Manzë, Gjekmarkaj: Alarm bells!
Agron Gjekmarkaj

The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Agron Gjekmarkaj, has considered the murder that occurred in Manzë, where Aranit Kurti and Flori Paluçi were victims , as an alarm bell for all of Albania.

The Democratic MP, in a public statement, expresses deep concern about the security situation in the country and criticizes the responsible institutions.

Gjekmarkaj emphasizes that this is not an isolated criminal event, but an alarm bell for the entire society and an indictment against structures that, according to him, have turned into paralyzed institutions and disconnected from reality.

“There can be no public security when the Minister of Interior, Ms. Albana Koçiu, deals with citizens' addresses, while the Director of Police, Mr. Ilir Proda, has his daily 'address' far removed from his duties,” the statement continues.

About the tragic event in Manzë, Durrës

The tragic event that occurred in Manzë, where two young people lost their lives violently, is another bitter testimony to the degradation of public safety and the failure of the institutions responsible for order and crime prevention in our country.

This is not just a criminal event.

This is an alarm bell for the entire society and a direct indictment of the Ministry of Interior and the State Police, which have become paralyzed institutions, disconnected from reality and the interests of citizens.

There can be no public security when the Minister of Interior, Ms. Albana Koçiu, deals with citizens' addresses, while the Director General of Police, Mr. Ilir Proda, has his daily "address" far removed from his work and the responsibilities that fall under it.

This is the result of the extreme politicization of law enforcement institutions, the lack of vision, responsibility, and serious commitment to fighting crime and guaranteeing the lives of citizens.

When the state retreats, crime advances. And today, we are faced with a reality where the lives of young Albanians are being affected in the most tragic way, in broad daylight, without any sense of fear of justice.

Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. We urgently demand a thorough investigation, punishment of the perpetrators and institutional responsible.

But more than that, we demand that the state return to serving citizens, not to being a haven for incompetence and indifference.

The time for political games with people's safety must end.
