By decision of the Council of Ministers at its regular meeting held today (December 13), the establishment, organization and functioning of the Administration Office of the "Vjosa River" National Park was approved.

This place was taken within the framework of the law on "protected areas", based on the law on "state administration", proposed by the Minister of Tourism and Environment.

Also called the Vjosa OACP, it will have its own institution with offices and administration, subordinate to the Protected Areas and the line Ministry, where appointments come directly from the Prime Minister's Office.

Its headquarters will be in Tepelena and will be a budgetary sector under the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, financed from the state budget and other legal sources.

The Vjosa OACP is headed by a director, who organizes and directs its activities and is accountable to the minister. The director is appointed, dismissed and dismissed by the minister, while also having to fulfill a list of 7 criteria.

He is relieved or dismissed from duty in 9 cases specified in this decision, such as when he is sentenced with a final decision, commits serious violations, does not meet objectives, has no performance, is relieved when he reaches retirement age, is declared incompetent, has a conflict of interest, resigns or the institution is reconstructed.

"The Vjosa OAPA is financed from the state budget and from other legal sources, according to the legislation in force. The Vjosa OAPA budget constitutes a separate item in the budget of the ministry responsible for protected areas. The Vjosa OAPA also provides income from the services it provides to other parties and the fees for which are determined according to the legislation in force for fees in protected areas," the decision states.

The revenues that will be collected will be poured into the state budget for any activity that will take place in this territory, already marked on the map as the Vjosa River National Park.

The main mission of the office is the conservation of the National Park, in cooperation with other central and local institutions.

The Administration Office of the "Vjosa River" National Park is responsible for organizing the work for: drafting and implementing the management plan, restoration and conservation projects, scientific research projects, carrying out maintenance works and works of a restoration and conservation nature, in function of conservation and protection measures in the protected areas under its administration.

Also, monitoring the environmental effects of any proposed intervention or development within the geographical territory of the National Park, coordinating work with public administration institutions, at central and local level, international partners, investors and stakeholders for the implementation of management plan standards and activities and finally environmental education, promotion and preservation and protection of the "Vjosa River" National Park.

The duties of the office, its mission and cooperation are also defined.

"The OAPA follows the instructions given by the National Agency for Protected Areas for the implementation of projects and legislation in force for protected areas and is a member of the protected area management committees for the regions of Korça, Gjirokastër, Fier and Vlora," the decision states.

The structure and organizational structure of the Vjosa OAKP is approved by order of the Prime Minister, according to the provisions of the legislation in force on the organization and functioning of the state administration.

The regulation on internal working methods is approved by the minister, upon the proposal of its director.
