Veliaj appealed his dismissal to the Constitutional Court, Sonila Bejtja is appointed rapporteur of the case

The Constitutional Court has appointed Judge Sonila Bejtja as rapporteur for the review of the appeal of the former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, regarding his dismissal from office.

Veliaj has filed a request with the Constitutional Court to annul the decision that removed him from office, considering it illegal and contrary to the Constitution.

We recall that the appeal request by Erion Veliaj emphasized that Article 62 of the Law on Local Self-Government cannot replace Article 115 of the Constitution, but must be interpreted in accordance with it.
