State Police officer Enea Mekolli, who lost his life in the line of duty during a police operation in the village of Bode in Maliq, will be laid to rest in the cemetery of his native village.

Although the status of "Martyr of the Homeland" provides for burial in the Martyrs' Cemetery, the family has requested that the burial ceremony take place in his hometown. According to the family, this request is related to the fact that they have previously lost another son to a serious illness (leukemia), also a police officer.

The family's wish is for the two brothers to rest next to each other.

Tributes in honor of Enea Mekolli will be held on Friday from 10 am to 12 pm at the Palace of Culture in Pogradec, while the funeral ceremony will be held at 2 pm in his native village of Blace.
