Found unconscious in the shower, a convict dies in Rrogozhina prison

This morning, on August 26, 2024, the convicted citizen Erlad Helshani, born on February 23, 1981 and a resident of Kavajë, passed away in Rrogozhina Hospital. Helshan was found unconscious by his fellow sufferers while he was taking a shower. Despite the immediate intervention of the institution's doctor, who accompanied him to the hospital, Helshani died at 09:15 at the Rrogozhina Hospital.

Helshani was treated for hypertension and high levels of fats in the blood during his stay at IEVP Rrogozhinë. He was sentenced to 4 years and 8 months of imprisonment for producing narcotics.

The incident is being investigated and all necessary procedures have been followed. The Internal Control Service in Prisons (SHKBSB), the Rrogozhin Police Station, the Prosecutor's Office, and the family members of the deceased were immediately notified.

The General Directorate of Prisons expresses its most sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
