It has been 3 years since the macabre murder of 22-year-old Kenyan Joy Ayoko in Tirana. She was brutally raped and thrown from the third floor of a hostel in the capital in August 2022.

At the time, the event shocked public opinion, but three years later, the investigations remain unclear due to a lack of evidence and procedural obstacles.

In a reaction on social media, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused the government and SPAK of protecting criminals linked to power. He stated that “criminals took the life of innocent Joy and that Albanian justice has failed in this case.”

Berisha said that Joy's tragedy is a warning about the incompetence and corruption that prevails in the justice institutions. " Criminals connected to the government took the life of innocent Joy! Scrap protects the government's criminals!" - writes Berisha, who also publishes part of the speech of the girl's mother.

"I know who killed my child. The police know it too. I am very disappointed with the justice system in Albania. It was a great pain for me but now I have become stronger and now I have the strength to face my fears, including returning to Albania in the near future. Yes, I will come to close the case and take the phone from the court. With the right advice I will come, but this time I will make sure that I have personally visited the offices in Kenya", - she says.
