Tragedy in Italy/ Crashed by motorcycle, 16-year-old Albanian dies (NAME)
Manuel Leti

A serious accident occurred on Saturday in Artogne, Valcamonica of Brescia. A 16-year-old Albanian identified as Manuel Leti who was riding a “Duke 125” motorcycle lost his life. The young man, born in Pian Camuno, had moved to Artogne a few months ago.

According to police investigations and witness accounts, the young man, who was riding his two-wheeler, hit the front corner of an Audi driven by a 44-year-old man.

Perhaps due to distraction or a reckless maneuver, he tried to pass the Audi.

This proved fatal. The accident occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. After barely touching the car, the motorcycle overturned and crashed into a lamppost. The young rider was thrown from his seat and hit the ground.

His helmet failed to absorb the impact. A friend riding another motorbike behind him suffered the horrific impact. Emergency services responded immediately, with medical vehicles rushing to the scene and an AREU helicopter stationed a short distance from the accident to transport him to hospital.

However, the efforts of medical workers to revive the boy were in vain. His injuries to his abdomen and chest were too serious to survive. For several hours, the young man's body remained on the sidewalk covered by a green raincoat. The family, who were immediately notified and rushed to the scene, burst into cries of despair.

The mayor of Artogne, Barbara Bonicelli, also reacted to the event, going to the scene of the accident, calling it an incomprehensible tragedy.

“Another young life lost on the streets,” she commented, “and nothing can ease the pain and worry of events of this nature.”

Manuel was born in Italy and studied computer science at a vocational training center. His mother, father, older sister and younger brother are shocked by the loss.
