The United States of America has reacted regarding the tensions and violence that is happening in the north of Kosovo, where the three Albanian mayors of the municipalities of Leposaviç, Zubin Potok, and Zveçan were sworn in.

In a post on Twitter, the American ambassador in Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, has condemned the action of the Kosovar police to enter the municipal buildings and appeals to immediately stop the violent measures taken today.

"The United States condemns the ongoing actions of the Kosovar authorities to enter the municipal buildings in the north of Kosovo. Today's violent measures must be stopped immediately", said the American ambassador in Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier.

Then came a reaction from the American senator Chris Murphy who was on an official visit to Kosovo this week. He says that he is surprised by today's events in the north of Kosovo and calls on the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to stop the provocations.

Murphy said that in the meeting he had with Prime Minister Albin Kurti days ago, the latter did not talk to him about such a plan from the Kosovo institutions.

"In my meeting on Monday in Pristina with Prime Minister Kurti, he did not mention any plans for access to municipal buildings. As a friend of Kosovo, I was completely taken by surprise and this provocation should be put to an end immediately" - says the reaction of the American senator.
