The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) has accepted the request for summary trial for the mayor of Shkodra, Benet Beci, and five other defendants, accused by SPAK of violating equality in tenders in connection with a procedure worth around 68 million lek, conducted at the time when Beci was managing KESH.
The summary trial was accepted for Benet Beci, Adela Ruko, Edlira Mitrushi, Jonid Kazani, Yllka Nishku and Rudin Gjoni. Meanwhile, the case against the defendant Premtim Dauti was separated and he will be tried under ordinary procedure.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 14, when SPAK prosecutor Dritan Prençi is expected to present final conclusions for the defendants who will be tried in a summary procedure.
During the hearing, in addition to Benet Beci, the other defendants and their defense attorneys requested the dismissal of the case, claiming that it should be included in the amnesty law, which, according to them, provides for the exemption of criminal proceedings for offenses committed until May 31, 2026, when the predicted sentence does not exceed three years in prison.
SPAK stated that it will present its written position at the next session, while the panel announced that it will express its opinion on this request in the final decision.
