Brisida Shehaj, former director of Taxes, currently vice-president of the Socialist Movement for Integration, is the latest "target" of Prime Minister Edi Rama in his list of "defamation" lawsuits.
The lawsuit signed by the head of government against what he honored with the "Golden Bee" award when he headed the General Directorate of Taxes, was filed in the Civil Court of the capital a few days ago.
Sources close to the Court informed A2 that in the lawsuit, Prime Minister Rama claims to have been harmed by statements made by Shehaj on March 10, 2022 in a video post on her Instagram profile after the government announced the establishment of a transparency board for the price of oil.
Describing as defamatory and unfounded some of Shehaj's statements, Rama seeks to be compensated with 1 million ALL from her.
After registering in court, the electronic lottery has selected Judge Teuta Hoxha to review the lawsuit, while a date for the first hearing has not been set yet, reports A2.
Since 2018, when he vowed not to spare defamation lawsuits against him, Rama has filed more than 20 lawsuits in the Tirana Court, with his political opponents as defendants.
So far he has won a showdown with Sali Berisha and those with Jorida Tabaku and Arben Imani, while other lawsuits are still pending.
