The US Embassy in Tirana has shared President Donald Trump's messages following his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

"The goal is always peace," the official Facebook page reads, accompanied by a black and white photo from the meeting between the American president and his Russian counterpart.

Meanwhile, in another post, the US embassy published another message from Trump stating that "We made great progress today... We had an extremely productive meeting and many points were agreed upon," referring to the talks with Putin.

The talks in Alaska between the two leaders lasted about 3 hours. The meeting was also attended by the respective foreign ministers and the advisor to each president.

Putin spoke first at the conference and mentioned reaching an agreement with the US, but without specifying anything.

Regarding the war with Ukraine, the Russian President considered what is happening a tragedy and, according to him, both countries are interested in ending it.
