Officer Edison Mehmetaj, advertised as a "hero" by the Socialists and their media for raising a flag from the ground during the DP protest, spoke to Report TV. 

"I would do the same thing in any form, even if I were a protester. I would not leave the flag on the ground," he said, also underlining the right of citizens to protest, but warning that any act of violence brings a reaction.

"It was a pretty busy day. Overall, it went well. No one among our colleagues was injured."

At that moment, it was completely blurry because we had both spacesuits and gas masks, and it was hard to see much. For a moment, I saw something on the ground and I got closer after seeing that it was the flag.

For a moment, Xhelal Mziu thought that the situation would worsen, but I had the intention of taking the flag directly, I had no other intention.

The flag part, thank you for appreciating it on your part, but I would do my duty even if I were a simple citizen. I would do the same thing in any form, even if I were a protester. I would not leave the flag on the ground.

The part of protesting is legitimate in every country in the world, but let's not become mercenaries. Because the cause-and-effect of actions is then known. In case of violence, we will respond.

"If you go out there clapping, you're protesting, you have the right to protest as much as you want," the officer confessed.
