The number of people who have signed the petition for the change of Potami beach to "Sirena Jonada" has reached 4 thousand, in less than 24 hours from its publication.
This is what the poet Alma Papamihali, who initiated the petition, after writing a poem about the 7-year-old, told "Euronews Albania".
"This initiative came by chance. First I wrote a poem which went viral and involved a fairly wide range of readers. The poem was about a symbolism like the siren Jonada and something like that came as a natural. So far, there are 4,000 signatories who have signed this petition. The petition is mainly online, it is the people themselves who have taken the initiative", she emphasized.
Three days ago, a serious incident took place on the beach of Potami in Himare, where the minor was hit to death by a speedboat driven by Arjan Tase.
Tase was a police officer and was dismissed from the ranks of the police after the incident, as this Friday the Court of Vlora issued a security measure of arrest and imprisonment for him.
Meanwhile, yesterday, a protest was held demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi and the General Director of Police, Gladis Nano./ Euronews Albania
