The General Director of the State Police, Gladis Nano, has addressed a letter to the Prefect of Vlora, Himar Municipality and the National Coastal Agency, three days after the tragedy on Potam beach where 7-year-old Jonada Avdia was killed by the boat that was driven by the commissioner Arjan Tase.

Nanao accuses these institutions of not periodically informing him about the measures taken, permits and licenses, as well as violations and non-implementation of the law by any public or private entity. He asks other institutions for cooperation and concrete engagement in the implementation of all legal obligations defined in Albanian legislation.

According to him, the State Police cannot act alone, nor can it be the only one responsible, if the inter-institutional links do not cooperate and do not implement the law.

The letter, which was distributed today, is addressed to the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Tourism and the Environment, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development

"Safety at sea, beaches and inland waters in the depth of the Albanian territory is a priority of the activity of the institutions of our country. In order to guarantee and secure the lives of citizens and vacationers, throughout the tourist season and beyond, we request the cooperation and commitment of all institutional links to monitor and control the implementation of the law and bylaws in the field of tourism.

The mission of the State Police is to guarantee the lives of citizens in any situation or part of the Albanian territory and in accordance with the law it is ready to offer all its support and services.

The State Police, as an important actor in maintaining order and security, will continue to undertake and plan police services 24 hours a day, in all territories of beaches and tourist areas.

In order to achieve the appropriate results, the state police must be periodically informed about the measures taken by the responsible institutions (an obligation which does not appear to have been implemented by the directly responsible institutions, in any case), which allow licensing for the development of activities and tourism marine, the device with a driving license for motor vehicles, the determination of prohibited areas for navigation and anchoring of vessels, as well as any other activity related to the maritime space and not only, to inform all law enforcement bodies for any violations and non-implementation of the law by any public or private entity. Take administrative measures and not only against every violator of the law.

According to the above, concrete cooperation and commitment is required in the implementation of all legal obligations defined in the Albanian legislation, we require an efficient cooperation with the structures depending on the ministry responsible for tourism and the environment, the ministry responsible for infrastructure, the ministry responsible for agriculture and rural development , inspectorates that cover the field of tourism and the state technical and industrial inspectorate, as well as central and local government units, in taking measures and holding responsibility from each state institution. The State Police cannot act alone, nor can it be the only one responsible, if the inter-institutional links do not cooperate and do not implement the law", says the letter of the General Director of the Police. - writes Nano
