The tragedy of Himara, where a boat driven by a police officer took the life of a 7-year-old girl, shocked young and old and became a reason for protests in Albania.
The shocking event took on even greater proportions for the way it happened on the seashore at Potami beach in Himare, where a boat entered despite the fact that there were children and adults bathing there.
News24 has obtained the testimony of the cousin of the 7-year-old Jonada Avdia who lost her life, the eyewitness with the initials EZ He said that they were bathing in the sea when the boat approached and although everyone was shouting stop, the driver continued to walk.
"They were bathing in the sea and at this moment a large boat approached. When it came near the boat took people to the shore and in those moments it hit the child with the propeller. All the rest of us who were on the shore started shouting to the boatman: 'Stop you killed the girl.' The driver of the skiff continued to walk without rendering any assistance. I went into the sea and pulled out the lifeless Jonada", he said.
Based on the evidence and the footage from the security cameras and the actions of Arjan Tase, the prosecution accused him of "indirect intentional murder". The file states:
"There is no negligent homicide, but intentional homicide since the driver of the boat, who turns out to have a license, was aware of the danger he posed to the citizens when he entered that perimeter . "
