Lawyer Kujtim Cakrani has announced the end of his professional relationship with former President Ilir Meta, whom he represented in the criminal process being conducted against him at the Criminal Court of Kosovo.

In a public statement, the "Cakrani" Law Firm announced that the decision was made due to the loss of mutual trust and the lack of necessary cooperation between the parties, a situation that, according to it, was particularly evident after the last court session.

The studio emphasizes that the separation was made in accordance with the ethical norms of the profession and without any conflict or accusations between the parties.

Announcement of the Law Firm "Cakrani"

On May 24, 2025, the "Cakrani" Law Firm, through attorney Kujtim Cakrani, assumed the legal representation of the former President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Ilir Metaj, in the criminal proceedings conducted before the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCAC/SPAK). The cooperation was carried out with professional honesty and with full commitment to the protection of the client's legal rights and interests.

Today, on June 29, 2026, the Law Firm "Cakrani" announces to the public that the client-lawyer relationship with Mr. Ilir Metaj has come to an end. The termination of this relationship comes as a result of the loss of mutual trust and the lack of necessary cooperation between the client and the legal counsel, a situation that was especially evident after the last court session of the case on the merits.

We emphasize that this separation is made entirely within the norms of ethics and professional deontology of the lawyer, in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Chamber of Advocates and the legislation in force. There is no conflict of interest, mutual accusations or controversial position from either party. The decision simply reflects the lack of objective conditions necessary for the continuation of effective legal protection.
