The Italian ship "Libra", used by the Government of Giorgia Meloni to transfer migrants to controversial detention centers in Albania, is currently in the Port of Shengjin, where it arrived this morning.

There are 8 immigrants from Bangladesh and Egypt on board. The ship left on the night of November 5, destined for Albania.

The government led by Meloni is using this ship to receive in the open sea some migrants, adult and healthy men coming from countries considered safe and to send them first to the center of Shengjin and then to the Gjadri, according to the agreement signed with Albania.

The first time Meloni implemented this strategy was on October 16, but it failed: the ship carried only 16 migrants from Egypt and Bangladesh, of which 4 had to be immediately returned to Italy because they were minors or "vulnerable". .

Very soon after that, the remaining twelve had to leave Albania and return to Italy because a Court in Rome decided that neither Egypt nor Bangladesh could be considered "safe countries", based on a decision of Court of the European Union.

This caused a strong clash between the executive and judicial powers, to which the Government responded by enlarging the list of "safe countries" and keeping Egypt and Bangladesh in it.

Since the first operation undertaken on October 16 caused a lot of reactions, this new operation is being carried out with maximum discretion.

Meloni insists on continuing with this plan, which at first aroused great interest among its community partners, but which is now facing threats from the repeated decisions of several Italian courts.

On Monday, the Court of Catania (south), like that of Rome, annulled the arrest of an Egyptian, sources say, holding that Egypt is not a safe country and thus contradicting the government law, while the Court of Bologna (north) addressed European justice to assess the legitimacy of this immigration protocol.
