A citizen has reported that he was illegally fined by the Tepelena Road Traffic Police, while claiming that the car was in Tirana.
"They are imposing fines on us without even being in those places," was the reaction of the citizen, who publicly denounced that he was fined in another city, when the vehicle was physically in a different place than the one listed on the fine sheet.
Immediately after the citizen's complaint and claim, the Gjirokastra Traffic Police responded.
"The Gjirokastra Traffic Police, following intensive drone and radar checks, for the purpose of road safety, on 26.08.2025, installed automatic radar on the "Tepelenë-Krahës" road axis in the place called "Lapidari", Mogila, where at 15:34, a "Volkswagen Tiguan" type vehicle was detected traveling at a speed exceeding the permitted norms. Since the radar is automatic, the Police officer at the end of the service completed administrative measures based on the video footage recorded by the automatic radar. In case of dispute, the Traffic Police will make the video footage and the time of detection available to the driver of the vehicle," the Police announcement states.
The citizen said that he was fined 1,000 lekë, claiming that his vehicle committed a violation in the city of Tepelena, on August 26, 2025, at 10:07 p.m. Meanwhile, from the data provided by the car's GPS, it resulted that the vehicle was in the capital at that moment.
