The media today wrote that the Court Against Organized Crime and Corruption has released the former director of the Albanian Radio and Television, Thoma Gëllçi. GJKKO accepted the lawyer's request for release because the terms of the sentence have expired.
The lawyer of the former director of the Albanian Radio Television, through a post on Facebook, reacted by saying that Thoma Gëllçi was not in prison but in custody. According to lawyer Dorian Matlija, Thoma Gëllëi has never been accused of violating the equality of citizens in public tenders or auctions.
Lawyer's reaction:
1. Thoma Gellci was not released from prison, but from detention. He continues to be presumed innocent and is convinced that this will be the final result of the trial against him. What ended today was the time of detention and will continue the trial in a free state.
2. Thoma Gellci has never been accused of violating the equality of citizens in tenders or public auctions. The news in some media is untrue.
3. The Special Court of First Instance has not yet disclosed its decision, although almost three months have passed. No one knows what the court will write there, but one thing is certain, that the court did not have physical time to read the file. Having read the file, we will continue the trial at other levels and we are still far from a final decision.
