Homage in Pogradec for the policeman killed in the line of duty, Enea Mekolli

Tributes for fallen officer Enea Mekolli began this morning. Tributes began in Pogradec at 10:00 with friends, colleagues and villagers and will conclude at 12:00.

The body of the Martyr of the Homeland, 34-year-old Enea Mekolli, will be laid to rest in the cemetery of his birthplace, in the village of Blace.

Although the status of "Martyr of the Homeland" provides for burial in the Martyrs' Cemetery, the family has requested that the funeral ceremony take place in his hometown.

According to the family, this request is related to the fact that they previously lost another son to a serious illness, also a police officer.

The family's wish is for the two brothers to rest next to each other.

The 34-year-old officer lost his life during the operation to capture a wanted man in Lozhan, Maliqi, the day before.
