Denis Trungu, 37, was arrested by Tirana Police in the Kombinat area after being wanted for the criminal offense of "Computer Fraud", an offense for which he was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Trungu was previously arrested in 2020 for bank account fraud during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 37-year-old, taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic situation to open bank accounts to receive "War Wages", had opened an account at a second-tier bank.

The 37-year-old then accessed the digital service "E-filing" by transferring 36 war salaries to his account. The transfers were made between May 6 and June 22, 2020, to 6 banks and other accounts, for various purposes such as concert fees, rent payments, bill payments, and unspecified payments.

Trungu had managed to intervene and hack the system set up by the government for the benefit of war pay. After the hack, the 37-year-old made 36 transactions in just one bank account in his name, which raised suspicions. After analyzing the account and police investigations, the scheme he used was confirmed.

These accounts were subsequently blocked by order of the Directorate for the Prevention and Control of Money Laundering. After this account was taken under administration by the authorities, only 1.6 million lek out of the 15 million lek illegally obtained were found deposited in it.

"The police operation codenamed "Final" is being finalized."

A 37-year-old man was arrested in Kombinat and sentenced to 7 years in prison for computer fraud.

The 37-year-old was previously convicted of various criminal offenses.

The Special Operations Force services in cooperation with the Cyber ​​Crime Section, as a result of a well-organized operational work within the framework of the "Final" operation in Kombinat, arrested and handcuffed citizen Denis Trungu, 37 years old, resident of Tirana.

The court has sentenced the 37-year-old man to 7 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Computer Fraud".

"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," a police statement said.
