Other details have emerged about the Italian businessman killed today in Tepelena, an event for which citizens Eqerem Braçe and his two sons, Gazment and Daniel Braçe, have been detained and are being questioned.
The victim Edoardo Sarchi, originally from Varese, had been living in Albania for years, while running his business.
He owned a brick factory in Tirana and was director of the Italian-Albanian company Tegola Edilcentro.
His name, beyond the business world, is also linked to local politics in Italy through his father Vittorio Sarchi, a historical figure of the right wing of the lakeside city.
Vittorio Sarchi was a friend and collaborator of the late Senator Piero Pellicini, father of the current Fratelli d'Italia deputy and former mayor of Luino Andrea Pellicini.
Vittorio Sarchi served as Security Advisor during Gianercole Mentasti's second term and as municipal councilor during Andrea Pellicini's first term.
After his administrative experience, he ran on the center-right Nuova Frontiera list, supporting Pellicino, remaining active until 2015. He died in 2022, at the age of 81.
Augusto Nidoli, Sarchi's uncle, also belongs to a well-known family in the province of Varese and beyond, and founded the Italo-Albanian company Edilcentro Ltd in 1996.
Tegola Edilcentro, a brick manufacturing company based in Tirana, of which Sarchi was executive director, is part of the same company founded by his uncle, which is now managed by Sarchi's cousins, Antonio (chairman of the board) and Edoardo Nidoli.
Antonio Nidoli is also president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Albania.
"A family of skilled workers and entrepreneurs," says Paolo Sartorio, deputy mayor of Cunardo.
"No one can understand what happened. Edoardo had followed in the footsteps of his uncles and cousins and was now a citizen of the world."
