Greece threatens Albania with blockade, Von Der Leyen message from Athens: We
The Greek Prime Minister and the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen

The leaders of the Western Balkans have gathered in Athens at the invitation of the Greek Prime Minister Qirjako Miçotaqis. Prime Minister Edi Rama is absent from this meeting, deliberately avoided by Miçotaqis due to the clash related to the Beleri case.

The Athens dinner is taking place amidst tensions, as Aleksandër Vučić of Serbia expressed his surprise when he saw the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, also invited, at the table dominated by the "Slavic world".

Vučić's minister, only a day ago, openly threatened Montenegro and Serbia with war. The heads of these countries did not react publicly, while today they are sitting at the same table with Vucic.

And yet, the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, has tried to convey messages of unity. It has encouraged the countries of the region to break down the barriers between each other, and to keep close to them the aspiring countries to join the EU.

"We need to bring our friends, the aspiring members of the EU much closer to us and much faster. I am glad to be in Athens to discuss the European perspective of our neighbors and partners in the East and the Western Balkans. We will continue to break down the barriers between our regions", writes the EC President on Twitter.
