The Head of the General Prosecutor's Office, Olsian Çela, reported to the Assembly regarding the work done by the institution he leads during 2024.
The first question that Çela answered was that from the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Agron Gjekmarkaj, regarding electoral crime and the use of the administration in the election campaign for May 11, a fact that, according to Gjekmarkaj, was also evidenced in the final OSCE-ODIHR report published a few days ago.
Çela stated that several measures have been taken regarding electoral crimes, while some investigations are still ongoing.
" With regard to electoral crimes, several measures have been taken. The General Prosecutor's Office has worked to strengthen institutional coordination with the CEC. To have a coordinated institutional approach.
Following this cooperation agreement, we reorganized the work within the Prosecutor's Office system. Special sanctions were established to investigate electoral crime. So these were the measures that were taken to strengthen the investigation into the crime. There are a number of criminal cases that have begun to be investigated.
As far as I have seen, they are distributed throughout the territory of the Republic of Albania, where they are related to the use of public funds and administration.
The second question is related to the OSCE/ODIHR, to the issue of patronage agents, which is nothing more than tracking citizens, where they identify problems, and they give the solution by exchanging votes for the SP. So using the state for votes. According to the data, the patronage agents themselves are employees of the public administration ," said Çela.
