On September 6 of this year, the Albanian government severed diplomatic relations with Iran. The decision came after this year, the country was hit by three cyber attacks by Iranian hacking groups.
The investigations, in cooperation with the USA, concluded that it is about Iranian groups, connected to state structures. Iran called this decision thoughtless and not based on facts.
Professor of criminology, Ervin Karamuço, said that the purpose of this attack is to cause terror, chaos and destabilization. He emphasized that in addition to Iran, it is also Russia that has attacked us online. According to Karamuço, such attacks are terrorist acts.
Apart from Iran, Karamuço emphasized that Russia is also behind the attacks. He emphasized that the attacks are continuing in the entire region, and he even connects the visit of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to Tirana precisely with the attacks that took place in Kosovo.
"It must be said that out of all the systems, we only have E-Albania, but all other online, banking or defense systems have not been affected. It is a much broader attack map and is for the entire region. It is a genuine terrorist attack. It aims to destabilize the region. It is not only Iran. It came quickly. Even Kurti came quickly to Tirana," said Karamuço.
"It is both Iran and Russia. This is not random news. Chaos, panic, destabilization, general terror, government collapse. And in pro-Western countries," said Karamuco.
The criminalistics expert pointed out that the hacker attack has been going on for 4 months, while he pointed out that arrests and restraining orders are expected.
On the other hand, Besmir Semanaj, Technology Expert emphasized that in Albania no investment has been made for data protection. According to him, the administration should be trained, as they deal with sensitive data.
"A few hours ago, Uber was hacked. Attacks are organized throughout the region. It is the same scenario as in Albania. We are dealing with an 18-year-old hacker. The signs of Uber, one of the users has compared to this technology and has brought to its knees a company that spends millions of euros on anti-crime staff. We have no investments in human resources. Administration having access must be trained. That hacking in the police can be done by an employee and then goes to the network," said Semanaj.
