The aunt of Erjon Boba, the 15-year-old victim of a knife attack in Durrës, Barie Çupi, has recounted her nephew's last hours on the 'Puls' show on A2 CNN.
Çupi said that Erion's family, seeing his serious health condition, were making efforts to move the 15-year-old to a hospital with better conditions.
She added that the Durrës hospital where the injured 15-year-old was admitted did not have the proper conditions to save the minor's life.
According to Çupi, the elevators in the hospital were not working, which were necessary when the 15-year-old was undergoing an MRI.
Çupi also added that while Erion was in the operating room, his family told her that the lights went out in the hospital for about 3 minutes, which, according to her, may have contributed to the minor's death.
"I sent a letter to a journalist friend of mine. When Erioni was very sick, we were preparing documentation to move him somewhere else. I was in contact with a well-known journalist, whom I asked to make the matter more public, so that we could move him. But Erioni did not wait for us, he did not succeed. In the letter that I sent to this journalist after the incident, I said 'Erioni left us'.
Erioni had 2 misfortunes, the first being stabbed by his peer and the second being unable to find a hospital with better standards to recover. Regional hospitals leave much to be desired in all respects. The doctors have nothing to do, the doctors are heroes, but being in a substandard hospital, facing some serious injuries, I think Erioni had bad luck there. There was no elevator to take him down, as he had to have an MRI. And what is worse, I myself was not there personally, but I was told by Erioni's family that the lights were turned off when his parents were in the hallway.
I don't know how urgent it was to turn off the lights in the operating room. But I sent Erion's file to doctors abroad and they said that Erion suffered a brain block, which comes from a lack of oxygen. Even if he survived the danger to his life, he was totally blocked. So the lights went out when he was in the operating room. In the corridors where the parents were, there was no light for 2-3 minutes. How can an oxygen tank work without electricity," said Çupi, among other things.
