Abuse of office and falsification of documents, the Court leaves in force the

The Tirana Court has left in force the security measures for Tirana Municipality and IMT officials accused of abuse of office and falsification of documents related to the collapse of earthquake-damaged buildings in Kombinat.

Aurel Çuko, AB and Sokol Qehajaj were placed under house arrest, while Eleana Guçe, Rexhina Rakipi, Aleksandra Mahmutllari, Shyqyri Maloku and Fatmir Firi were placed under mandatory reporting.

The investigation began for a demolished building in Kombinat in January 2020 with the funds and expenses of the Municipality of Tirana, which was re-entered into a tender along with 14 other buildings that were to be razed as earthquake-damaged.

The Tirana Prosecutor's Office says that building no. 140 was not the only one that was allegedly paid to be demolished even though it was already leveled, but also 5 other buildings.
