Rakip and Ervis Kurtaj, father and son who were injured during the assassination attempt in the courtroom where judge Astrit Kalaja was killed, left the Trauma Hospital just one day after the event.
Their health condition is reported to be stable and out of danger.
Meanwhile, the injured have given their first testimonies to judicial police officers, recounting the dramatic moments inside room number 3 of the Court of Appeals, one of the smallest rooms of the institution where the incident took place.
According to them, everything happened within a few seconds, amidst the panic and chaos that engulfed everyone present.
Witnesses said that the situation became tense immediately after Judge Kalaja announced the decision, which, according to them, was not in favor of the Shkambi family.
After reading the verdict, 30-year-old Elvis Shkambi pulled out a gun he had hidden under his jacket, loaded it and shot the judge several times.
Testimony of Rakip and Ervis Kurtaj: The event happened very quickly. The castle tried to defend itself, but there was neither space nor time.
Elvis approached him and shot him from close range, saying: "You asked for it yourself." Then he turned to us and the secretary, but the gun had no more bullets," Rakip and Ervis Kurtaj said.
According to their testimony, the perpetrator calmly left the courtroom after the shooting, while those present tried to help the judge, who was showing no signs of life.
"We tried to help him, but he was unresponsive. After a few minutes, the police and ambulance arrived. When we went outside, we saw that the gun had been left at the door, it was very small. We felt very sorry for the judge, but honestly, this was a situation we had been afraid of for a long time," they said.
The two injured added that they had received constant threats from the Shkambi family.
"They told us they would throw us out on the street every time they saw us. This story was like a nightmare," said father and son.
