As expected, SPAK does not disappoint. The anti-corruption prosecution deals with petty thieves and fish crates, but not with "big fish".
In a reaction to Euronews Albania, SPAK stated that there is no registered proceeding on behalf of Ilir Meta or Sali Berisha regarding the much-discussed files of 'CEZ-DIA', '21 January 'or' Gërdeci '.
The Special Prosecution has not launched any investigation into the January 21, 2011 incident in which 4 opposition protesters were killed on the boulevard.
SPAK also said that it is not investigating Ilir Meta for the CEZ-DIA file, for which the only person still in prison is the businessman Kastriot Ismailaj, the owner of the DIA company.
In 2009 the prosecution caught a wiretapping between him and Ilir Meta, where it was alleged that the latter demanded money from him. But the file was dismissed and all investigative materials were destroyed under Albanian law.
While for the file "Gërdeci" this prosecution has an investigation and the only person being investigated is Fatmir Mediu, former Minister of Defense.
For three weeks, Prime Minister Edi Rama has been asking the SPAK to investigate Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta.
