The British media have paid attention to the case of Albanian Bujar Cozminca.
The 33-year-old was sentenced on Friday (June 28) to 12 years in prison charged with drug trafficking.
According to the tabloid Express, the Albanian had bought 100 kilograms of cocaine with a value of 3.5 million pounds.
He anticipated throwing it in shows and from the sale it would get about £8m.
He was arrested in May 2021 and £300,000 in cash was found at his properties in two properties he used for drug dealing in Islington and Wembley.
Investigators also discovered several ledgers showing drug dealings amounting to the sum of nearly £2 million.
Cozminca admitted to drug trafficking and money laundering charges. What the British media is saying is that the Albanian had this, the second arrest. In 2012, he was sentenced for drug trafficking to 21 months in prison.
He was deported to Albania but then entered the UK illegally. In 2020, investigators managed to get his communications in the encrypted EncroChat app.
It found that Cozminca trafficked many pounds of cocaine across the UK and laundered hundreds of thousands of pounds of criminal money a week.
Investigators analyzed 6,000 of his messages on EncroChat. His group had extensive international ties. Cozminca was able to operate even throughout covid-19's quarantine.
"We are committed to pursuing individuals like Cozminca who feel they are above the law and we will continue to work with our partners to bring them to justice," said Andrew Tickner, OCP senior investigating officer.
