DP leader Sali Berisha has reacted in harsh tones on social media, accusing the government of kidnapping and torturing Daniel Shima, former deputy director general of the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI).
In a Facebook post, Berisha claims that Shima was kidnapped in broad daylight on August 20, at 1:30 p.m., as he himself had announced in an SOS message to his family: "They are arresting me."
According to Berisha, this is not an arrest by the state's legal structures, but an operation by a suspicious structure, which he calls "private police in state uniforms", acting under the direct orders of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"Daniel was kidnapped as in the darkest times. Not by the police or SPAK, but by secret structures that report only to the head of the narco-state," Berisha writes.
He claims that Shima has previously been threatened due to his knowledge of sensitive issues related to the ANA, which Berisha describes as a "gold mine for Rama and his family."
Berisha claims that after an absence of 12 hours, Shima returned home in the early hours of the morning, psychologically and physically crippled. He says that Shima was tortured for four hours in a basement of Suel Çela, while the previous meeting “for a coffee” had been a warning for violating the “code of silence.”
"After his return, a total silence has fallen. Civil society, the Ombudsman, journalists, no one talks about Daniel anymore. It is an omertà that speaks volumes about the fear in this narco-dictatorship," Berisha writes.
He concludes his statement by calling the silence surrounding the case of Daniel Shima "a moral indictment of everyone," and clear evidence of the fear and capture of institutions in the country.
