Two young men shot at police, remanded in custody

The Durrës Court has ordered the security measure "arrest in prison" for two young men, Ardit Domi and Leonard Çali, who fired at police forces while being pursued by blue uniforms.

They both appeared before the black squads in the Durrës court, although Ardit Domi was injured during the exchange of fire with police forces, after taking a bullet in the neck.

They attempted to kill police officers during the action in Durrës, while they were suspected of being a group of robbers. The Court leaves the 2 arrested people in custody.

The willing judge Rexhep Bekteshi, after hearing the prosecutor of the case, Erida Sisiçi, and the defense lawyers, issued the security measure "arrest with imprisonment" for Ardit Domin, who was injured, and Lorenc Çali.

According to the prosecution, both are accused of the criminal offenses of "murder of a State Police employee", attempted, "armed robbery", attempted and in collaboration, and "unlicensed possession of weapons".

According to the investigation, the two young men fired at the officers after the police attempted to stop them. Instead of obeying the order, they sped away in their vehicle.

The chase ended in Vora, where the car went off the road, but Domi and Çali continued to resist, opening fire with automatic weapons at the police. Faced with this situation, the police responded with weapons.

As a result, Ardit Domi was seriously injured by a bullet in the neck, while Lorenc Çali was neutralized and arrested on the spot.  

The incident occurred at 01:00 in the morning of August 24. The two young men, who had committed theft, opened fire after midnight while being pursued by the police. During the night, the officers found the vehicle that they had stolen on August 20 from the Youth Sector, and with which, a day later, they had violently robbed the daily turnover of a gas station in Sukth, and pursued them. After the arrest, a double-barreled automatic rifle was found at the scene of the incident that was used by the two perpetrators.
