Belgium/ They were caught with the cannabis plantation worth 800 thousand euros,

"I thought it was allowed in Belgium and was really aware of no harm or breaking the law." This is how one of the Albanians arrested for the warehouse with 800 thousand euros of drugs seized by the Belgian police in 2022, where he was caught together with 4 other compatriots.

This testimony was given in the court process that is being held and the next session held today (October 10). Large cannabis plantation found in Waarschoot. Along with four others, he risks a prison sentence of up to 5 years if found guilty.

In the session, three of the suspects sent their legal representatives, while two were present themselves. The names were not made public. The prosecutor asked for imprisonment from 12 months to 5 years for each. Fines of up to 20,000 euros were also requested.

After several reports of suspicious vehicles near a warehouse in Visserij in Assenede, the local police conducted a raid in October 2022. They discovered that the building was used to operate a cannabis plantation.

82 kilograms of dried cannabis was also found ready for transport. Two Albanians were arrested at the scene in the warehouse. Two others were found in a vehicle near the plantation. Later, a fifth Albanian appeared among the connections, writes the Belgian media "Nieuwsblad".

In the warehouse, the investigators also found an interesting notebook, where there was an "abundance of information" about the quantities cultivated, the subdivision of the plantation, etc.

Lawyer Toon Deschepper tried to explain his client's situation.

"He was naive and unaware of any wrongdoing. He even immediately showed his passport to the police. He was told it was allowed in Belgium, stupid of course. I ask you not to be too strict", said the defender before the judge.
Lawyer Nathalie Buisseret followed the argument and indicated that her client needed money because of a sick daughter.
