The murder of judge Astrit Kalaja

Journalist Glidona Gaci has provided details regarding the serious incident that occurred at the Court of Appeals in Tirana.

The journalist reports that the perpetrator Elvis Shkëmbi loaded his gun inside the courtroom and shot four times at judge Astrit Kalaja, at the moment when the latter gave the decision, which found in favor of the other party.

Due to the dynamics and tensions, two people were also injured, a father and son from the opposing side. Meanwhile, it is not yet known how the murder weapon was able to be brought inside the premises of the Court of Appeal.

"In courtrooms in general, when you enter, you are subject to security checks and procedures, which are protocols that are implemented. But according to the data, the perpetrator loaded the gun inside the courtroom, at the moment when Judge Astrit Kalaja, a monocratic judge, meaning he was alone without the other judges, announced a decision and ruled in favor of the opposing party, who was claiming a property issue in the city of Shkodra.

His uncle Gjon Shkëmbi has appeared on many shows and media statements on the issue of ownership, claiming that he had the right to a building he had built in the city of Shkodra and claiming that 31 families were illegally benefiting from it. At the moment the decision was announced by Judge Kalaja, the 30-year-old shot him four times, causing his immediate death. But, due to the tension, he also shot at the other parties in the process, leaving both father and son injured, the journalist reported on the show "Rudina".
