Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja.
"Brotherly condolences to the family of the late judge Astrit Kalaja and may he rest in peace!"
Criminal aggression against a judge undoubtedly requires the most extreme legal response against the aggressor.
But this tragedy requires a reflection on the internal security system of the courts, which, in addition to requiring certain technological equipment by law, cannot remain a matter of choosing between private police in the name of judicial independence!
Meanwhile, I believe this tragic event is the most irrefutable argument to support the significant tightening of the Penal Code's punishment for illegal possession of weapons and to maximally narrow the scope for playing with deadlines to the detriment of protection from the fire of illegal weapons!
"I also pray that this shocking moment will prompt a reflection on the ease with which illegal possession of weapons is usually treated in judicial processes ," Rama writes.
Fraternal condolences to the family of the late judge Astrit Kalaja and may he rest in peace????
