The Ministry of Defense has announced the cancellation of the tender procedures for the launch of the satellites "Albania 1" and "Albanian 2" in orbit.

The tender was canceled because there was no bid submitted that met the criteria set out in the tender documents.

"The reasons for the cancellation are based on law no. 36/2020 'on procurement in the field of defense and security', as none of the submitted bids complies with the criteria set out in the tender documents ", it is stated in the following document. The announcement was made on 20.06.2022.

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced from the Assembly hall in October last year that Albania would send two satellites into orbit. 

In fact, Prime Minister Rama made several statements that in March Albania would launch satellites, but Peleshi opened the tender in April. At that time, the Civil Protection Agency wrote that the duration of the contract or the deadline for execution was 36 months or 3 years starting from the conclusion of the contract, while for the whims of the Prime Minister, Albanians would pay a full amount of 7.2 million USD.

We recall that a few days ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama dismissed Adrian Kamenica from the post of Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, and sources suggest that the reason was the delays in the implementation of the project announced by the government, for the launch of two satellites "Albania 1" and "Albania 2".
