Is Albania seriously threatened by Iran? Here's what Donald Trump's

President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, John Bolton, has raised serious concerns over the recent developments in the war in Iran, highlighting the lack of a clear strategy from the current US administration.

In an interview with Euronews Albania, Bolton stated that the ambiguity over the objectives of the war makes the situation unpredictable and increases the risk of a prolonged conflict. According to him, initially the goal seemed to be regime change in Iran, but contradictory messages from Washington have created confusion.

"It's hard to say what Trump's real objectives are. He's talked about withdrawal, about declaring victory and about regime change, but these don't match up," Bolton said.

He stressed that overthrowing the Iranian regime remains the only objective that can bring stability to the Middle East, describing the current regime as a threat due to its nuclear ambitions and support for international terrorism. However, he acknowledged that this is a difficult objective to achieve and requires external support for the Iranian opposition.

According to Bolton, the regime in Iran has been significantly weakened, with significant losses in the ranks of leaders and structures such as the Revolutionary Guard, but has not yet been toppled. He also warned of the possibility of a chaotic period after a possible change of power.

Speaking about the duration of the conflict, Bolton stressed that a few weeks of war is not enough to topple a 47-year-old regime, adding that setting artificial deadlines could favor Tehran.

In his analysis, Bolton also touched on the consequences for international alliances, including NATO, as well as the impact on Albania. He warned that the country could face risks due to harboring the Iranian opposition, but at the same time stressed that Albania deserves special support from allies to guarantee its security.

Bolton's statements come at a time when the US Embassy in Tirana has issued an alert about possible attacks by Iran on entities and structures linked to the US, including the Mujahideen camp in Manza.

State structures have meanwhile been put on alert for the situation, but stressing that there is currently no such risk according to the data.
