Prime Minister Edi Rama took stock of the tourist season this year, while emphasizing that Albania should not be profiled as a country of low cost tourism.
According to Rama, there is a place for low-cost tourism in Albania, but the focus should be on high-end tourists as they bring more money to the economy. Here, Rama took yachts as an example. According to him, 400 yachts bring money as well as 40 thousand low cost tourists who can come.
"The concern is that Albania is not characterized and profiled and not closed in the new perception it has created as a low cost tourism country. We do not want and cannot be a country of low cost tourism. We should be a country where there is also low cost tourism, but there is high level tourism that brings big consumers because they bring much more money to our economy. What 400 yachts bring is equal to what 40 thousand low cost tourists bring, to be clear. This also applies to those who say why they support yachts. We don't support yachts, we support the economy. And that is why tourist ports should be created and Albania should become a country that brings as many yachts as possible, as many small tourist boats as possible and as many tourists who, when they touch the land, consume, said Rama in an activity dedicated to tourism.
Another point where the prime minister stopped was the infrastructure. The head of the government emphasized that the work for the Blue Corridor is on the right track. Regarding the Llogara Tunnel, he underlined that the work is at a very advanced stage.
"Access to the airport has been expanded and will be multiplied with Vlora airport. Port access has been improved and will be expanded with tourist ports, always bearing in mind the need to understand well that ports are the decision-making and responsibility of the government. Of course, the corridors too. Work on the most important corridor, which is the Adriatic-Ionian Blue Corridor, has started with the Thumana-Kashari segment. Agreements for other segments are nearing completion. Next year we will be on the construction site for this corridor at last. So from Montenegro to Vlora we will have, I'm talking about the coast, a corridor of European standards and those who use it continuously during the summer season and have every right in the world to feel persecuted, the corridor will endure a little longer up from Shkodra to Fushë Krujë. What matters is that this is on the way. The Llogara tunnel is at a very advanced stage. We hope that with the tunnels I have learned from working on the road that I always say we hope that it is never known to geology etc., although there do not seem to be any problems there, so that next summer will be the first summer with a functional tunnel. We continue in the segment below to pave a tourist route", Rama said.
The Prime Minister warned the service subjects that a task force will be set up and a law will be adopted to stop having septic tanks or pouring waste water into the sea or the lake.
The crystal waters of the European Maldives do not pollute those who live on the hill and have a septic tank, but they pollute those who put 5 stars in front of the hotel and release the remains of the stars to the community from the back," said Rama .
