The escalation of the protest in Tirana, where several institutions along the boulevard have been engulfed in flames, has brought numerous reactions. Albana Koçiu has reacted again to the situation in the capital, warning of the consequences that violence and chaos can bring, recalling the costs that Albania has paid in the past from such events.
In her response, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasizes that protests should be conducted without violence and that institutions, businesses and public spaces should not be the object of attacks. She calls on citizens to remain calm, self-restraint and prudence in these tense moments.
"Albania has paid an extremely high price for the chaos of the past, where in the name of anger and revolt, institutions were attacked, property was destroyed, and the country was plunged into a crisis that cost it many years of development, stability, and trust. The consequences of that chaos held the country hostage for decades, leaving scars that we still feel today.
The images of violence, flames, and clashes in Tirana remind us of how fragile the line that separates peaceful protest from chaos is.
In these hours, calm, restraint, and prudence are needed. Institutions are public property, businesses are someone's business, roads belong to everyone, and security is the right of every citizen.
"Albania does not need to burn to change. It needs to build, progress and protect what it has achieved," writes Albana Koçiu.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, meanwhile, has not yet made any reaction.
