The massive crash of cyclists 70 kilometers from the finish line in Naples characterized the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia, the longest planned and currently the one that has created the most problems.
About thirty cyclists fell on the asphalt that had become slippery due to the rain, with some of them sustaining injuries. For two of them in particular, Jai Hindley and Fabio Van der Bossche, the race ended at that moment, transported by ambulance to the hospital.
The collective fall occurred along a straight stretch on the outskirts of Nola, about 70 kilometers from the Lungomare Caracciolo where the finish line of the sixth stage, the longest of the entire 2025 Giro, was located.
The rain and humidity made the asphalt slippery, making it almost like a layer of ice, causing some cyclists to suddenly lose their balance and fall to the ground at high speed.
A group goes down... including the Maglia Rosa! ????????
