Turkish media reports that Fenerbahçe coach José Mourinho is targeting a bold move to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window. Sources from Fotomac say that Mourinho has contacted Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo to see if he would be interested in a return to European football, putting aside the differences they had when they were both at Real Madrid.
Mourinho reportedly asked Ronaldo if he was happy at his current club and if he wanted to leave, offering him the chance to come to Fenerbahce.
“Are you happy there? There is talk that you want to leave. If so, would you like to come to Fenerbahçe?" Ronaldo is reported to have written to him.
However, the transfer seems difficult given Ronaldo's extraordinary salary, which exceeds 220 million euros per year. This makes such a deal almost impossible for the Turkish club.
Regardless, Mourinho's bid to sign a player of Ronaldo's caliber shows his ambition to turn Fenerbahce into a competitive side at European level, capitalizing on his reputation for attracting world-class players.
