Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that Milan are likely to hire an Italian coach for the new 2025-26 season and there are seven candidates for the Rossoneri bench, including names such as Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri, Maurizio Sarri and Vincenzo Italiano.
Milan are currently experiencing a nightmare as the Rossoneri have changed two coaches, but are currently 11 points below the top four of Serie A and, as a result, are likely to miss out on a Champions League spot for the 2025-26 season.
Sergio Conceiçao was appointed in December but has been unable to turn things around in the second half of the season, so Milan are expected to activate an option to end his contract in June.
According to Tuttosport, Milan are considering appointing an Italian coach for next season. However, a final decision will be made together with the new sporting director who will be hired in the coming weeks.
Tuttosport claims that if Milan were "free to choose", they would give priority to Carlo Ancelotti, but it is unclear whether their former coach would leave Real Madrid and return to San Siro.
Antonio Conte, Gian Piero Gasperini, Sarri, Allegri, Roberto de Zerbi and even Bologna's Italiano are said to be on Milan's radar.
Sarri rejected an offer to replace Paulo Fonseca in December because he wanted a deal that lasted more than six, 12 or 18 months. However, the former Napoli and Juventus coach remains in the running for the job this summer.
Conte is under contract with Napoli until 2027, but he is the favourite to end his contract early.
Gasperini recently confirmed that he will not extend his contract with Atalanta beyond 2026, suggesting he could even leave Bergamo at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani and owner Gerry Cardinale are meeting in New York to discuss short- and long-term strategies.
