Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has denied claims that the Vetëvendosje Movement had a role in organizing or inciting protests in Albania.

At the 64th meeting of the General Council of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Kurti said that the entity he leads is a governing force and not a protest force, emphasizing that Kosovo is not and will not be a rival of Albania.

"I have seen with surprise various voices that have tried to blame Vetëvendosje for these protests taking place in the Republic of Albania. But, dear delegates, we are a governing force and not a protest force. Even when we have been a protest force, we have come to the forefront of the protests ourselves and have never remained anonymous. We have never considered the tactic of throwing stones and hiding our hands as worthy ," Kurti declared.

Kurti said that he follows developments in Albania with concern and love, since, as he has said, it is an inseparable part of the Albanian nation.

He emphasized that Albanians must build democratic and justice institutions that are not influenced by the power of capital.

"It is vitally important that we Albanians prove to ourselves that we know how to build justice and democracy that withstands the pressure of capitalism and governance that does not bow to the oligarchy," Kurti declared.

The head of the LVV has requested that, in addition to identifying and punishing those responsible for the violence during the protests, the causes leading to the clashes be examined.

According to him, the reasons and circumstances that turn political discontent into violence must be understood.

Kurti has emphasized that Kosovo should not be seen as a rival of Albania and that Pristina supports its progress on the path towards the European Union, economy and tourism.

He said that violence and injury to people during protests are a concern for everyone.
