Varhelyi: In Brussels, there is agreement on the opening of negotiations

Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi, at the press conference with Prime Minister Rama after the EU-Western Balkans Summit, said that in Brussels there is agreement on the opening of negotiations for Albania on the opening of negotiations for the first group-chapter.

"You want me to talk about Albania in a negative way?! I can't do it. I don't want to do it. Your steps have shown what you have achieved. Don't forget where you were in October 2019 and see where you are now. We have agreed in Brussels for Albania, which is ready to open negotiations for the first group-chapter. As technical as the process is, I don't understand why we can't take it as a decision. We are trying to help and in the following months have the next intergovernmental meeting. We want to open negotiations for the first group-chapter ", said Varhelyi.
