Academician Artan Fuga stated that the large number of citizens in protest does not necessarily translate into support for the opposition.
According to Fuga, the protest showed that not only the discontent is great, but there is also the spirit of the protest, so according to him, the problem is with the opposition, which not only needs to bring models, but also needs to be democratized.
He has stated that new candidates, new intellectual energy should emerge and there should not be a closure of people who have been rotating and rotating for years.
"I think that dissatisfaction is very widespread. Unhappy people are massive, and I personally do not need to go to the protest, but it is enough to look at the elections of April 25 and say that 25% of the population voted for the government. This means that 50% did not come and do not even want to know at all, and a part that voted against. So, 60-70% of the population is dissatisfied. The fact that one moves to the boulevard to demonstrate discontent, and the fact that there was a good population of the boulevard, means that not only was there discontent, but also the spirit of protest. But, a voice against the government does not necessarily translate into a voice for the opposition. There is an energy, but not automatically, because other factors come into play.
First, this discontent of the masses needs to be translated into political models, and I see that the opposition is very very poor, also because of its serious defects in the last 10 years. Second, there is a total abandonment of the opposition and its leaders. The opposition still hasn't recovered and I don't know why it's still stuck, it says that I fill the square, but it doesn't make new models for the school, for education, for the economy, etc. If this is not processed properly, that resentment remains like boiling water, but it does not bring anything. The third concerns democratization within the opposition. So, let new candidates emerge, new intellectual energies, let there not be a closure of people who have been spinning and spinning for years. I say that the militant has always done his duty,, academic Fuga told News24
