The Laws Commission overturned the decree of President Ilir Meta for the return to the Assembly of the law for the management of the Butrint National Park.

During the meeting, the legal representative of President Meta, Bledar Dervishaj, was the first to present the arguments why the decree of the head of state should be accepted by the parliament. Dervishaj asked the legislators to respect the public interest regarding the management of national assets.

"If the majority chooses to overturn the decree and continue with its entry into force, it would not serve the highest interests of the country, but would also worsen a relationship between the state body and civil society, experts and citizens in general," he said. Dervish.

Even the deputy of the Democratic Party, Ina Zhupa, asked her socialist colleagues to accept the decree and not to break the Paris Convention on Cultural Heritage.

"There is not a single word in the Paris Convention that says that foundations can manage or take over concessional administration of cultural assets", said Zhupa.

But at the end of the meeting, amid debates and only with the votes of the majority, the President's decree was overturned.
