The mayor of the champion municipality, Elton Arbana, is touched by the praises
Elton Arbana

The mayor of Shijak, Elton Arbana, appeared excited by the thanks of Prime Minister Edi Rama during today's meeting with the mayors.

Rama considered Shijak as one of the most exemplary municipalities compared to Tirana. According to Rama, what has changed in the municipality of Shijak is the leadership.

" We had a very painful, very difficult, complex, challenging process that has put much more organized countries than us into difficulties, the process of catastrophic reconstruction. And the most exemplary municipality among all municipalities, including Tirana, is Shijaku. In every step a response from the institution as if it were a western institution.

Perhaps the employees of the municipality of Shijak came from Germany and France, that the municipality of Shijak did not violate a deadline in providing documents, inventory, giving bonuses, staying close to the citizens, following all the works. Most of the people who are in the municipality of Shijak are those who were before, but what changed in the municipality of Shijak? The leadership changed.

The municipality of Shijaku has not had any special care than other municipalities and here it is today, the champion municipality. And the two big municipalities of Tirana and Durres, from the point of view of functioning in this process, have something to learn from the municipality of Shijak. Here I am making a difference by identifying some municipalities which do not have the conditions like some larger municipalities" , Edi Rama.

Rama classified the municipalities as exemplary, good, and some others problematic. Being a problematic municipality means being problematic for citizens.
