The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, is today holding a conversation at the MEPJ, within the framework of the conclusion of the "Diplo 2024" Ambassadors' Conference.
During his speech, Minister Hasani also stopped at the NATO summit, which will be held in Tirana in 2027. This, the minister declared, shows the importance of our country as a NATO ally. Among other things, the head of diplomacy shared details of the preparations being made for holding such a summit in Albania.
Minister Hasani: It has been decided that the Summit in 2027 will be organized in Tirana. Next year the NATO summit will take place in the Netherlands, two years later in Turkey and in 2027 it will be hosted by Tirana. We are in the stage of internal preparation, so we have started with the identification of all possible resources that make it possible to organize such a summit. This shows that Albania is an important NATO ally. In 2025, the meeting of the European Political Community will take place in Albania. It is all these formats that make us more responsible in all the commitments we take, but also increase the visibility and importance of the region.
Minister Hasani also shared the good news that the Second Intergovernmental Conference can take place at the end of September. The road to the EU will continue without stops, Hasani stressed, as the negotiating group is working to prevent political interference from becoming an obstacle to the country's membership in the European Union.
Minister Hasani: We are working to hold the second intergovernmental conference at the end of September, beginning of October. We are ready. We have been ready for a year. The first chapter is completed, clarified, negotiated with the commission and is waiting for this mechanism to be considered open, we are ready for two more group-chapters. We will be prepared with the new configuration of the European commission to move very quickly and without stopping on that journey. We are working so that political obstacles do not interfere with technical agendas. Optimistic for autumn. We will move quickly and non-stop on the EU-focused journey.
