In a conversation with the citizens, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about holding the EU summit in Tirana, saying that it is a strategic assessment by the organizers.
He also emphasizes that they have never been prevented from being at the European table, although Albania is not yet a member of the EU.
" For the first time in a non-EU country for the summit that KiE is holding together with the leaders of the Western Balkans.
A strategic assessment on the part of the organizers to place in Tirana this station of a journey that, for reasons we have told and will elaborate on, is becoming an ever more common journey in a world that confronts us with challenges.
It is a strategic turn in the history of the EU of the last many years, this turn towards a new approach to the Western Balkans, and I must modestly say that we have played our part to come to this turn and have given a number of proofs that we are ready for to be evaluated and considered differently.
It is a strategic turn prompted by the pandemic as a start and then also by the Russian aggression in Ukraine in the following, but it is also a strategic assessment for Albania.
It is not a station chosen at random, but in a well-thought-out way. At the European table, we are sitting among equals, although we know the path we must take to unite as members, we have never been hindered to be direct and tell them as they are ", said Rama.
